Non-polymer
It's easy to get confused but DriWater is not a Polymer! Polymers are usually in bead form and mixed with the soil.
Discover the difference:
| DriWater | Polymer |
| Water that disperses at a consistent rate for an extended period of time |
Need water to perform. Polymers extend the watering cycle by a few days but once dry, are useless unless you water again |
| Predictable - disperses moisture over a predetermined period of time. |
Unpredictable. Wind, high temperature orother factors can accelerate the release of moisture |
| Natural -only food grade ingredients, safe around children and pets, and environmentally friendly |
Petroleum based products and therefore have some degree of toxicity |
| Ideal for regular watering or for establishment. Roots do not grow into the product |
May actually compete with the plant for moisture if allowed to dry out. Roots may also grow into the saturated polymer |
| Stays where you place it, either on the surface or under the soil |
Work their way toward the soil surface with each watering, eventually eliminating any positive benefit |
| Won’t over water - stops dispersing moisture when the soil becomes very wet. Won’t contribute to root problems |
Hold water at the roots during extended wet weather which can cause root problems |
So how does DriWater work then?
DriWater works in conjunction with the microorganisms naturally found in soil. These enzymes break down DriWater’s binding ingredient, vegetable gum, and the gel slowly converts back to liquid, releasing water at a predictable and consistent rate. The vegetable gum is the same food-grade material used in the manufacturing of peanut butter, mayonnaise and ice cream, among many other food products. The vegetable gum also nourishes the enzymes which more effectively break down nutrients for root uptake. The capillary action in the soil causes the water to form a moisture pocket around the root zone extending no further away than one foot.
100% of the water from DriWater is available to the plant and not lost to leaching, runoff or evaporation. Also, due to the fact that the moisture provided by DriWater is 100% focused around the plant’s root zone, there is no extraneous water for weeds to embrace thus study have shown there are limited weeds in areas grown using DriWater.
